Mercy: A key to Every Heart

“Now we start on this road,” were the first words uttered by Jorge Bergoglio in his first apostolic blessing imparted as the newly elected Bishop of Rome, Pope Francis, thus inviting the Church to trudge together with him the path of brotherhood/sisterhood, the road of reciprocal love and confidence. Significantly, then, the focus of his act of initiating a new step in the missionary journey of the Church as outlined in his first Papal Homily at the Eucharistic celebration with the Cardinals in the Sistine Chapel was: “Walk, build, confess”. Christian life thus comes through as a road that ought to be travelled in the all-encompassing presence and luminosity of the Lord without settling down in a sedentary way of life.
